Meet the Team!

  • Opetoritse "Ritse" Adefolalu (he/his)

    INSTRUCTOR

One of Ritse's earliest memories is of a picture book with a cat playing the saxophone. From that moment on, he knew he would be a musician. He started with toy instruments as a toddler, moved on to the recorder in elementary school, and finally got his hands on a real saxophone in the 6th grade. He's been keeping his hands on it as often as he can since then, playing in numerous jazz, marching, concert, pop, and church bands.

Ritse completed a Music minor while studying English at Harvard University, where he had the privilege of learning from world class instructors and guest artists such as Don Braden and Vijay Iyer. While earning his master's in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois, he was able to study under jazz great Ron Bridgewater. Ritse now works as a children's librarian for the Boston Public Library, regularly incorporating music into his programs with the hope of inspiring children the same way that cat inspired him.

  • Anna Harris (she/her)

    FOUNDER and INSTRUCTOR

Anna started her own musical studies at the age of four on the piano, and chose to play the violin at age seven. She personally has experienced the incredible effect that music can have on personal identity and expression when implemented from a young age.

Anna studied Violin Performance and English at Boston University, and now performs regularly as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician. She has been teaching for over 10 years and currently maintains a full studio in her neighborhood of Fort Hill in Roxbury. In the fall, Anna will be pursuing an MBA degree with a concentration in social impact at Boston University.
